V&A Museum: Friday Late Afropolitans

‘MsAfropolitan presents:

‘The Rise of Afropolitan Fashion’ fashion show

&

What is an Afropolitan?’ panel discussion

V&A Museum/2011

In June 2011, MsAfropolitan presented an inaugural fashion show at the V&A Museum in London titled ‘MsAfropolitan presents ‘The Rise of Afropolitan Fashion’. The event showcased couture from the brands available in the MsAfropolitan Boutique as well as from Africa’s largest fashion houses such as Tiffany Amber, Jewel by Lisa and many more.  The fashion show was an enormous success with long queues and celebrity guests in the front row. The event saw over 5000 guests, one of the most attended of the V&A Friday Lates.

The panel discussion MsAfropolitan Presents ‘What is an Afropolitan?’ saw talents Tolu Ogunlesi, Hannah Pool, Lulu Kitolo, Yemi Alade-Lawal and MsAfropolitan founder, Minna Salami discuss such topics as what defines our generation of Africans, how we incorporate the cultural voice of Africa with global and regional trends, how we express our African roots, how we are changing the socio-cultural perceptions of Africa. The panel was an inaugural discussion on Afropolitanism and was held in a fully seated Lecture Theatre at the V&A Museum.
