When you blog you get to write what they call killer posts. This label is perhaps a tad of an overstatement, because quite simply what writing a killer post means is you’ve written a post that’s so good it goes bananas in google rankings and make you famous over night because it’s so informative and entertaining. I aim to write one of those soon, but forย now bear with me please.
Male bloggers claim the best reason to blog is it gets you laid, whilst female bloggers claim the best contraceptive is blogging. OK, I made that up. But it might be true.
By the way, if you get really bored reading this post, you can just watch this clip instead. It’s funny.
If you’re still reading, thanks. Your reward is some actually worthy information:
A friend from theย Afro Pop Live, who promote Afropolitan artists such as Wanlov Kubolor, Nneka, Muntu Valdo etc, recently hosted a world premiere of ‘Coz ov Moni’, the first ever pidgin musical. We walked down the kente karpet into the movie theatre without any expectations, but perhaps a slight nervousness about what seemed an ambitious production.ย It was amazing. Afrocentric. I loved it. It’s something by Africans for Americans about Africa. Get it? OK, don’t miss it. Here’s a sampler.
Then I followed up by watching an interview with Wanlov Kubolor, a Ghanaian/Romanian artist who also has one of the two lead roles in Coz ov Moni. I was less impressed. I’m just going to assume that the shocking response to condom use in this interview was a terribly bad joke.
I sent a text to the wrong number by accident this morning. A few moments later I received a response that read ‘wrong number, asshole’.
If by miracle, or through the power of energies, the sender happens to read this post, I’d like to thank you for giving me my laugh of the day, what a brilliance.
Anyway…
The world cup is now over and I’m relieved. I was getting real tired of twitter and facebook being overwhelmingly about sports. It ended on a sad note, but I’m proud of SA for putting on such a memorable event.
OK ย guys, I could do better things with my time that write a blog post for the sake of writing a blog post. I could for example keep preparing the MsAfropolitan Boutique launch soon to come.
Speaking of the boutique, it’s going to be donating a % to a charity called Forward, a serious charity doing real serious work in Africa for African women and that I’m so happy to support that I’m not going to write anything more about them in this non-killer blog post.
If you have any thoughts on killer blog posts, or killers or blogs or condom usage, please share.
Peace y’all.

LOL! The all-elusive killer post. Perhaps I’ll write a killer book instead. LOL!
I am looking forward to your boutique launch. How exciting! And, helping a worthy cause to boot!
I am actually experimenting World Cup withdrawal. Even after several weeks. After watching up to four matches per day on some days, I haven’t learned how to act in real life. LOL! I guess I’ll go buy more products to review, and play with my hair.

Killer book! lol made me thin that it’s probably only a question of time till we start thinking of literature in terms of social media.
Sorry to hear about the football withdrawal symptoms, it’s weird how it creates this bizarre non-competitive void when it ends ๐

I’ve been in search of the “killer” post since I started blogging. You can never really determine which post is gonna set the blogosphere ablaze.
One of my more recent posts was picked up by a couple of blogs with some pretty high readerships. It brought in quite a bit of traffic. Hopefully some of the newbies will see my genius and decide to stick around.
That video was funny, scary, creepy….need I go on? ๐

What was the ‘killer-post’ you wrote about? If you don’t mind sharing, I’d love to read it
I wonder if writing a killer post would be good for me, in reality it might create ‘bloggers block’ lol
Jokes aside, I blog because I love this outlet and the sharing of thoughts and I hope people enjoy my writings and sometimes all this jargon makes me feel nauseated, but still I like blogs that are about blogging and I find myself absorbing the info on them, such as writing killer posts

I agree with you with the whole idea of the killer post. I have a post now that gets massive hits everyday regardless if I post(Its on Cleopatra) and I have had others I thought were gonna hit the sky(Like my COINTELPRO on Black Women) but didn’t do as well. All of everything basically is a crap shoot half the time
MsAfropolitan says
Hmm, there must be a code we bloggers can crack *rubs palms*
Diggame says
I have been wondering the same thing for a long time too!!…lol

This post made me smile … I love that it’s like ten mini-posts in one! I imagine this is what it would be like having a conversation with an interesting person suffering from ADD – I know that’s an odd comment but I honestly mean it complimentarily (Is that even a word? And if it is, am I spelling it right???) ๐
MsAfropolitan says
It’s so funny you mention as I’m writing a post about my OAD, online attention disorder.
Thanks for the um…compliment lol. ๐

Pambazuka once linked to one of my ‘randomest’ blog posts… You never know which post will be popular, though it’s probably safe to say that the posts with some sort of emotion tend to do well. Controversy also sells as well as anything with an ‘i’ in front — iPad, iPod, etc ๐
MsAfropolitan says
Just writing an emotional one – let’s see ๐
On a serious note, in the early stages of blogging I would research about blogging successfully etc. It’s weird how now that I know that ultimately like mostly in life, the real value in blogging has to do with relationships, my blogging is more successful (per my definitions) than when I would check if my title was a linkbait or not.
Nevertheless, I’m glad to have learnt more about the ‘professional’ blogging terms and methods.
Well done on the Pambazuka link though, now that’s great ๐
